Christmas 2016

Christmas Greetings,

This past year has had its share of both mountain top and valley experiences.  I bear witness that the God of the mountain takes you by the hand and walks with you through the valley. His grace is not only greater than all our sin, His grace enables us to overcome in the valleys.  No matter what the circumstances of life we face in this imperfect world our Savior who became flesh does not call us to fail.

And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.”  1st John 4:14-15

I wish you a Blessed and Merry Christmas and a New Year overflowing with God’s richest and choicest blessings.

God is an Expert at bringing good out of bad

“You have dealt well with your servant, o Lord according to your word.” Psalms 119:65

Greetings!

This Sunday, Oct. 30, marks the two week anniversary I have been home in Del Rio.

When I broke my shoulder on July 9th in the natural things were gloomy. I was being told many negative things I will not repeat. BUT GOD!!!! I will testify that in over 50 years walking with God. HE IS ALWAYS GREATER THAN OUR PROBLEMS AND AN EVER PRESENT HELP IN TIME OF TROUBLE!!!!

I was greatly blessed by all my children, Kathy, Cliff, Sheryl and their families coming along side and helping in whatever way they could. Driving me where I needed to go, supplying things I needed, special thanks to my youngest daughter taking care of me for three months.

By God’s grace the shoulder is improving each day in strength and ability.

Getting back into active ministry again is an answer to the prayers of many brothers and sisters in the Lord. God bless and thank you all.

I am grateful to all of you for your faithful prayer and support. Thank you so very much.

May Our Lord the King of the Universe bless you abundantly.

Sowing Seeds of Life to Migrant Children

Migrant children receive the Word of God

Migrant children receive the Word of God

Dear Friends,

September so far has been an eventful month. Over the Labor Day weekend my son in law, Joe, and I made a fast trip to Del Rio.  While there, I had the opportunity to sow six cases of Spanish Bibles into the Comunidad Cristiana Maná Church in Cd. Acuña.  This church has access into the juvenile migration camp run by the Mexican government.

FYI-Every day trains leave the Guatemala/Mexico border for the several-day journey to the USA border. These children ride precariously on the top of the cars.  The majority are of Central American origin.  It’s called “el tren de la muerte” (the train of death).  Another name is “La Bestia” (The Beast).  Many die from the train ride itself, climbing aboard while moving, falling off the cars, etc.  Many are assaulted, robbed, raped…

At the camp Comunidad Cristiana Maná is allowed to teach the children and tend to their spiritual and other needs during the time it takes to process them before sending them back to their country of origin.

Who knows what God will do with the seed sown into these young lives? “BUT GOD”

As for me, therapy is making my arm stronger each day. I am building memories with my great grandson in a way not possible before.

Circumstances caused my arm to be stationary for longer than normal. As a result my elbow lacks about 15 degrees or so from being able to straighten out completely. I request your prayers of agreement for full and complete restoration of the arm.

I appreciate so very much the prayers of my many friends holding me up before the Throne of Grace. I am looking forward to getting back into the full swing of things as soon as possible.

God Bless you richly,

Proverbs 17:17 “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”

A healing in progress

Dear Friends,

I have been out of pocket the last few weeks. On July 9 I had a fall and broke my right arm (humerus) near the shoulder.   I was taken to Seymour, TX where I could stay with my daughter Sheryl while being attended by a good orthopedic surgeon in nearby Wichita Falls. After reviewing everything, the doctor determined I needed a complete shoulder replacement which took place on July 19th.

Six days after my release from the hospital, I needed to go to the emergency room for various problems. I got out of the hospital in Wichita Falls Friday, July 30th.

I will not go into all the doctors played with. I’m just glad I am now out of the hospital and am feeling about 1,000% better!  Today the bandages were removed from my shoulder so I can begin therapy!

I wish to thank everyone for their continued prayers for my rapid recovery. I appreciate all of you so very much!  I thank God that He is the Lord God who heals us.  I am looking forward to a supernaturally quick healing.

Again, I thank everyone for their prayers and concern. The many expressions of well wishes and prayers have been a source of great encouragement to me.

God bless you all!

July 3, 2016

Weather report says it is 103 degrees and feels like 108. That is just normal Del Rio weather for this time of year.

I have had Father’s Day visits from my youngest daughter Sheryl and Son in law Joe. My Son, Cliff is ministering this weekend in Cd. Acuña and will return home tomorrow for his daughter’s twenty first birthday.

Ministry at the Detention Center has been interesting. I am having to acquaint myself more fully on the Quran as I am having the opportunity to minister to several Muslims. God grant me wisdom.

While most of the almost 200 men I have the incredible privilege to tell about the love of God listen and give mental assent, only a few get serious with God.       Jesus told us …….

Mat 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.

Mat 7:14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

Pray with me for God to have mercy on these men and draw them to Him.   The up side of the ministry, is those that do get serious begin to devour the Word in earnest. Some of these men after serving their time have gone on to pastor churches.

Church groups are starting to visit again and minister in the Mexican churches.   A lot of fear was sown because of the hyped up programs on TV about the border.

In all things, not just mission trips, we need to know God’s will.  He must direct our path.

I wish to thank everyone for their partnership in the work. Your God directed prayer and support is what God uses to enable the ministry and give success.   Thank you for everything.

Special thanks to Cliff for updating my blog program.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his Name.

For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 100:4-5 ESV

When we honor God with thanksgiving, praises, a grateful and thankful heart we also express thanks

to all those who have had a part in our lives. For 49 years God has used faithful people and great

churches to hold up this ministry with prayer and generous financial support. Madeline, my late

wife of 56 plus years now in heaven, I know joins me in expressing profound thanks and gratefulness

to all who have such a vital part in all God has led us to do.

May His great Name be blessed for ever and ever.

Blessed and praised, glorified and exalted, extolled and honored, uplifted and lauded be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, who is beyond all blessings and song, praise and consolation spoken in the world, and say Amen” portion of the Kaddish a Hebrew Prayer

My first visit to the H-5 Administrative Segregation Unit at the Correctional Facility was kind of a shock. I must admit the intensity of spiritual opposition was a wake up call. The level of hopelessness, despair and anger at God I believe gave me a fleeting glimmer of what hell must be like. In spiritual warfare nothing can be taken for granted. Some times in hunting magazines they will show you kill spots on different animals. Exactly where to aim to reach the heart of each different animal. We need to know that there is for every one a magazine in hell with our picture in it describing the fatal spot for each of us. BUT GOD!!!

1Co 16:13 Be on guard; stand firm in your faith [in God, respecting His precepts and keeping your doctrine sound]. Act like [mature] men and be courageous; be strong. [Psa. 31:24]

1Co 16:14 Let everything you do be done in love [motivated and inspired by God’s love for us]. AMP

2Co 2:14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. NASB

2Co 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,

2Co 10:4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.

2Co 10:5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, NASB

Nothing is impossible with God, I am not in this place by chance. Pray with me for God to destroy every demonic stronghold and raise up the standard of His saving grace in the hearts of these men.

That there be mighty signs and wonders not only in the hearts of the men but also in their families who often suffer more than those incarcerated .

I have been home almost a week.  I was away for a month.  Del Rio enjoyed more than normal rain fall during that time and my yard grew abundantly.

My car was in the shop in Columbus, Georgia for a few days, while they did not completely resolve the problem they did reprogram the computer and repair it enough to get me home.   I am grateful to Ted and Mary Sanders for taking good care of me during that time.  I also was blessed to be able to minister at Restoration Ministries and get to meet new Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

For some time, I have been ministering in three of the four segregation pods at the Val Verde Detention Facility on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Next week I will begin ministry in the fourth pod on Mondays     I ask for your prayers as three days will make my schedule very full.  The combined population can reach almost two hundred men.

While I was away the Mexican government opened up to ministry a migrant camp just across the border to minister to children from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Honduras.   I have been able to give Bibles to a church I work with, Comunidad Cristiana Mana.  They have access to these children and are having great results.  “BUT GOD”   Lord willing I plan to get over there myself.

My profound and grateful thanks to all the great people who continually hold me and the work up with prayer and generous support.

The multiple and varied events of the annual Liberty Missions Conference were all concluded yesterday May, 1.   These Mission Conferences require an enormous coordinated effort on the part of all the church members and staff of the participating churches.  Thank you for a difficult task well done.

This is the first time in several years I have been able to attend.  I was greatly encouraged and inspired by the reports of what God is doing through the Holy Spirit directed efforts of Globe missionaries throughout the world.  I am privileged to be able to have a small part in it.

A great blessing was the Missionary Retreat at Camp Baldwin just over the Florida, Alabama state line from Pensacola.  It was time of refreshing, opportunities to chat with old friends, make some new ones and listen to inspiring messages.  Grateful thanks to all at Globe International for the great work they did to make the retreat a success and all the extras they do while the missionaries are here.

Special thanks to the great Churches that have blessed me with their generosity, fantastic hospitality and the privilege to share.

Abundant Life Fellowship Church, Bay City, Texas.

The New Covenant Church, Harrisville, Mississippi

Liberty Church, Atmore, Alabama

Warrington Worship Center, Pensacola, Florida

Liberty Churches, Pensacola

There will be one or two more places to go before heading west to Texas.

Many have asked me about future plans since my wife has gone to heaven.  I cherish every moment of the 56 plus years we were together, my love for my sweet wife, Madeline, has not diminished.  I now rejoice that the callings of God do not have an expiration date (Romans 11:29) and I have the incredible privilege to continue the work that Madeline and I were called to do together.  So in a nutshell the plan is RE-FIRE, not retire.

May God bless you abundantly with His manifold blessings.  Your partnership in this ministry is greatly appreciated.
