Tribute to My Mom, Madeline Bell

November 24, 1939 – May 29, 2015

My Mom filled many roles in life. Just a few of those roles were:

  • Lover of God, worshipper, poet, a perpetual learner who could hear God’s Voice and receive revelation even while reading the dictionary.
  • Faithful wife, lover, friend, helper, companion, ministry partner, to my Dad.
  • Devoted daughter to her mother, caring for her for many years.
  • Gracious, creative, understanding, forgiving, patient, enduring, and praying mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
  • Powerful and anointed intercessor that helped pray me and countless others through times of trouble into victory in Christ. I am what I am today in a big way due to Mom’s effectual prayers.

Mom’s greatest joy was in loving God and in serving others. Whenever there was a need she wanted to be involved in meeting it.

The nature and essence of love is to give. Just as the sun has to shine, love gives. It can’t be any other way. My Mom was a perfect example of that kind of love.

Our former pastor, Ken Sumrall of Liberty Church in Pensacola, was unbeatable in ping pong. His secret? No matter what twist or trick play someone else made, he would simply and effectively return the ball until they messed up and he won. That’s the way Mom lived. No matter what the adversity, accusation, misunderstanding or trial was thrown her way. She simply and effectively loved and responded in kindness. Today as Mom rejoices in God’s Presence, I can say, “You won”!

Mom was a prolific poet, and once published a book of poetry called, “Loves Gift”. It was a beautiful expression of God’s love to us. According to 1st John 4:8 God is Love. For those who knew her Mom was truly Love’s Gift to us.

I can only imagine the celebration that occurred when Mom stepped through the gates of Heaven and into the Arms of Him Who is Love. Mom, I love you and miss you. I look forward to seeing you again!

BEYOND THE GRAVE

The earthly things we love so much

Are here for just a while:

A loved one’s voice, or look, or touch,

Their tears, and cares, each smile.

The gracious deeds a life has wrought

No man can ‘er replace.

And just a memory cannot

Bring back a cherished face.

But God Who loves them more than we,

Who gives all life and breath,

Once broke the chains and set us free

And we need not fear death.

We’ll meet again beyond the grave

If Jesus we have known.

How great our Lord Who came to save!

He loves and keeps His own.

Help Bob by spreading the word!
